one of my bosses called me and told me to go to her office. i reluctantly picked up my notebook and pen and proceeded towards the "dungeon". she asked about a particular project being developed, of which i am the designated assistant. i told her that i needed to get some files to answer her query, so i went back to my cubicle and retrieved the necessary documents. at this point, i'm telling myself that i might be headed towards another ass-whooping, i.e., work-related lecture or "sermon". when i got back to her office, she told me to proceed with whatever i was doing for that particular project during my free time. then she told me the real "reason" why she called me to her office - that i was getting additional compensation, i.e., a raise in my salary - and that even though she gives me "oral beatdowns" every now and then, she appreciated what i do for the organization. i told her that the news was quite surprising and unexpected, and that i didn't take those "beatdowns" personally. at this point, i couldn't help my tears from falling - and i told my boss that if she didn't whip me into shape like that, i wouldn't appreciate her the way i did. i told her that in spite of all the cans of whoop-ass that she had opened upon me, i knew that she wanted to do that for my own good. i still have the crumpled piece of tissue that i used to wipe my face that afternoon. i thought to myself: we all get what we deserve, in due time. thank you God, for that wonderful blessing. i hope you consider including some of my other wishes in your "to-do" list. maraming salamat po.

later that evening, i decided to buy some food, i.e., "pasalubong" for my mother, sister and elder brother. i didn't tell them the good news though, as i still didn't know when it will take effect. a hilarious sidestory my sister told me is that, her 1-year old son Gelo, whom i affectionately call "Boy Saging" (in reference to the Mark Lapid video clip which he seems to enjoy watching every time), pulled off some video-worthy shenanigans when they visited her in-laws during the previous weekend. Gelo hugged his cousin's doll (the doll was as big as him) and proceeded to give it a Tombstone Piledriver, an Ankle Lock, and a Crippler Crossface - you pro wrestling fans out there know what i'm writing about here - much to the delight of my sister's brother-in-law who is also an avid wrestling fan like me. too bad they didn't capture it on video, i would have posted it here too. if Gelo performs his first DDT and delivers his first promo a la Jake "The Snake" Roberts or a la Raven, i'll be damned if i don't witness it for myself - stage uncle ba?

i hope someday, i'll have a son like him.

thursday-friday, february 28-29, 2008

i left the office earlier than usual - at about 7:00pm - in order to go to a party featuring The Chongkeys at Purple Haze Bar and Cafe located at E. Rodriguez cor.

hell yeah!

after all, ito ang ilan sa mga eksenang nagsasabi sa aking masarap pa ring lasapin ang buhay.
