Tatay, alam kong hindi tayo madalas mag-kuwentuhan o mag-usap man lang, pero sana maramdaman mo na mahal na mahal ko kayo. alam kong ang mga bonding moments natin eh kapag nanonood tayo ng TV pag may boxing habang kumakain ng mani o kaya kapag inaasar natin si Nanay tuwing may mga "diet-kuno" moments siya, pero kahit ba kakaunti lang ang times na yun, at least masaya ako, masaya tayo. alam mo, i'm not good with words especially kapag ganitong may kahalong emotions, but i hope you understand that i'm not just about words. most of the time, yakap at halik lang ang kaya kong ibigay sa iyo, aside from an occasional cake or tub of ice cream, but i want you to know that even those wordless moments mean everything to me. i am not the best son in the world, but i do try to be a good one, even if i have my limitations. dati-rati, i didn't want to be like you dahil nga para kang bato at times... but lately i have realized that the more i try not to be like you, the more i end up being like you. and it's just now that i have learned to appreciate you more because of that. we share the same sarcastic brand of humor, the same stoic appearance at times, the once-in-a-blue-moon unexpected philosophical lines, and even the same surgical scar. Tatay, my words may not be worth a lot, but you do mean a lot to me. and that's the bottom line.
mga kaibigan, whether you call him Tatay, Itay, Ama, Daddy, Dad, Dada, Papa, Papi, or Popsie, never forget to honor him alongside your wonderful mothers. i'd also like to thank your parents for raising wonderful people like you. maraming salamat sa lahat, Tatay.

ReplyDeletetouching naman nito pre. na miss ko tuloy tatay ko. he died 3 yrs ago due to pancreatic cancer.. i regret not spending more time with him.. and to let him know how much i love him. kaya sa lahat ng nakakabasa blog ni mic.. wag nyo na hintayin yung moment. stand up and give your dad a hug.. or give him a call kung nasa malayo..
