lost in Makati (a.k.a. the post-Eraserheads get-together)

last Saturday (well, technically it was already Sunday) i had one of the most fun nights out with friends in quite a while. i almost skipped it when the slacker in me thought that: “i’d be lost in Makati, so why bother, right?” but then again, my instincts (and some little lady’s convincing power) told me to go have a drink at that unholy hour. and besides, these friends of mine are some of the best people to have a sensible conversation with – and the buckets of beer just made the night much more enjoyable.

before i get ahead of myself, i’d like to share my experience GOING there – a.k.a. me and my lousy sense of direction in a place called Makati. i took a cab from home (i live in Pasig) to Makati and i was telling manong driver that I’d be landing at the corner of Buendia (not Ely) and Makati Avenue at a WG Diner. after plying the entire red light district, i thought that we had made a wrong turn and i asked to be brought at the Petron gas station at the corner of Buendia and Makati Ave. so i could walk and find the place for myself – it wasn’t exactly the best move – hell, it wasn’t even a good move, period. after getting instructions from Donnie through phone (not iPhone), i walked towards what i believed was the right turn he described, but it turned out that i made one wrong turn, so i went back to the gas station where i was at.

by this time, it started to rain, so i stopped to catch my breath as well as to text Jhen that i might have gone the wrong way as i still can’t find WG Diner near my location. she replied that it was near a Mercury Drug store and right across 7 Eleven in ANOTHER PART of Makati Avenue, so when i was talking to her, i was at a seemingly right but wrong reference point. so, out of pity (and perhaps exasperation), sinalubong na lang ako nina Abet at Donnie dun sa kinalalagyan ko. i even tried to walk towards the opposite direction, but i decided to go back, as there were no signs of any night life nearby. i heaved a sigh of relief nang makita ko sa kahabaan ng Makati Avenue sina Abet at Donnie, kaya dali-dali akong sumama sa kanila para maka-inom at maka-Sali na ako sa kwentuhan.

on a lighter note, pakiramdam ko ay nabawasan ang timbang ko dahil sa kalalakad na pinaggagawa ko nung gabing yun – eh kasi naman, ang pinaka-physical na ginawa ko this past week eh tugtugin sa gitara ang kantang “No One Else” ng Weezer. siyempre, sobrang enjoy ang madaling-araw ko kasama sina Abet, Donnie, Mon, Lanie at Jhen sa WG Diner – kaya kahit paano, tinawanan ko na lang ang katangahan ko sa directions dahil worth it ang company nila (seryoso ako dito, ha?). sa dami ng napag-kwentuhan namin, inabot na kami ng umaga – and in fact, ang kasunod na entry nito ay isang pagku-kwento tungkol sa aking nakaraang lovelife – so next time, OGL mood naman ako. i really had a great time with the five of you, kaya maraming salamat Abet, Donnie, Mon, Lanie at Jhen – sa uulitin at uulitin at uulitin pa. =o)
